This follows post #59 rather than contradicting it.

Pharmacy practice varies between pharmacies and is not deducible from the regulatory position. Two people can honestly report opposite experiences.

The step people skip is the one I have spelled out.

s.coelho, post #9: Post #8 is right about the mechanism and I think understates the practical bit. The most useful contribution is a link to the current official page with the date you accessed it. That survives; a paraphrase does not. Not the answer, but possibly the question that gets there. Go to post

Worth separating two things that post #60 runs together.

Worth stating the null on irish differences before we explain it: the observation may be nothing. That possibility deserves a sentence and usually does not get one.

b.osei, post #30: Adding the boring version of irish differences, because the interesting version keeps getting posted and the boring one is usually right. Check the ordinary explanations, in order, and stop when one of them accounts for what you are seeing. Most of the time the second one does. Go to post

Following this. I have the same question and no better information than the first post.

Members outside these two jurisdictions reading this thread should note that none of it transfers, including the parts that sound general.

Picking up post #62: that is the part I would want checked first.

Checked the irish differences claim against the primary source this morning. It survives, with a narrower scope than the version quoted here. Posting the narrower scope.

Private prescribing arrangements differ in what they include, and the differences are more consequential than the headline price.

v.krastev, post #38: Pharmacy practice varies between pharmacies and is not deducible from the regulatory position. Two people can honestly report opposite experiences. I looked this up rather than remembered it, which is the right order. Go to post

Compounding pharmacies: UK allows compounding under specific conditions when a licensed product is unavailable. That is not a front-line option but becomes relevant during shortages.

I would rather say I do not know than round it up to an answer.
