Preservatives: function, testing, and limits — one year on posts 31–33

This is a continuation of a long topic, addressed by post number rather than by page. Start at post 1.

I read post #30 twice before replying, because I had assumed the opposite.

The most useful thing anyone has posted about Preservatives in this category was a table of what had been measured and by whom. That is what I would want again.

A note on scope: what I am saying about Preservatives applies to the case in the first post and I would not extend it further without checking.

n.nakamura, post #27: Narrowing post #24, because the general version has more than one answer. What I would want before treating Preservatives as settled: the method, the sample, and whether anyone tried to find the opposite result. Two of the three are usually missing. Go to post

The honest summary: a licensed formulation is a designed system and a reconstituted research preparation is not one. Everything published about the first is at best a starting point for the second.

Not a strong opinion, just a consistent one.
