t.vasquez, post #1: Posting this under the heading it deserves: Currency conversion and the cost you did not see Everything below is what sits behind that. Currency and fees, set out so that the comparison can be checked. Quoted amount, conversion rate applied, the spread on top of the mid-market rate, and any fixed fee: four numbers, and only the first is… Go to post

The arithmetic in post #4 is right; the assumption feeding it is the part to check.

For anyone finding this later: the short answer on Currency conversion is that it depends on one thing, and the rest of the thread is people identifying which thing.

Fairweather, post #7: Confirming the total before paying rather than after is obvious and is skipped constantly, particularly where shipping is added late. Go to post

Currency conversion is one of those subjects where the general answer and the answer for a specific case diverge, and the thread will go in circles until someone says which one is being asked for.

a.stephanopoulos, post #3: No payment facilitation: this site does not handle payments and does not connect buyers and sellers for the purpose of payment. We discuss logistics and documentation of the process but not the commerce itself. Go to post

Currency conversion and fees are frequently the difference between two quotes that look identical. Compare the landed total.

A definition problem is doing most of the work in this Currency conversion discussion. Once the term is pinned down I suspect the disagreement mostly goes away and what is left is small.

I read post #20 twice before replying, because I had assumed the opposite.

Recording the time from payment to dispatch is worth doing, because it is the part of the process most within the supplier's control.

Worth one more sentence than it usually gets.
