Medullary thyroid carcinoma is the reason these compounds are contraindicated in people with personal or family history of MTC or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2. Rodent toxicology showed a signal; human evidence of causation is absent but caution is appropriate.

Not the whole picture, but the part of it I can speak to.

Attribution is genuinely hard for a single case and the reporting schemes are designed to work with that. You are not expected to prove causation to file.

I am reporting what happened, not recommending it.

Post #5 and I disagree about the size of the effect, not about the direction.

Emergency department visit has been discussed here with more heat than it deserves, mostly because two definitions have been in play the whole time.

Post #14 is right about the mechanism and I think understates the practical bit.

The most useful contribution to this subcategory is a completed account: what happened, what was done, and what the outcome was.

The useful distinction on emergency department visit is between what was measured and what was inferred from it. Both end up in the same sentence and only one of them has error bars.

Marking my uncertainty on emergency department visit explicitly. I am confident about the direction, much less confident about the size, and not confident at all that it generalises past the case in the first post.

On emergency department visit I would separate what is worth knowing from what is worth acting on. The first list is long and the second is short, and conflating them is how threads get heated.

Gallbladder symptoms during rapid weight loss are described in this class and are also associated with rapid weight loss generally. Both can be true.

That is a description of practice, not a recommendation of it.

The confident version of this sentence would be wrong, so here is the hedged one.
