Coming back to: Cross-border purchase rules within the EU

Cross-border purchase rules within the EU Writing it up because I had to work it out twice and would rather nobody else did.

Cross-border purchase rules within — I have the observation and I do not trust my interpretation of it, so I am posting the observation and holding the interpretation back.

Numbers, method and the conditions under which they were collected are below. Interpret them however they warrant.

I have no financial interest in anything named in this thread and I want to say so before I comment on Cross-border purchase rules within, because it is the sort of subject where it matters.

Answering the question the opening post raises rather than the one it answers.

Adding a reference point for Cross-border purchase rules within. Mine is a single case, collected without controls, and I am posting the method alongside it so it can be discounted appropriately.

Netherlands: CBG-MEB implements framework. GPs are first point of contact. Insurance coverage for weight management is conditional on structured lifestyle programme participation.

This is the sort of thing the wiki should carry and currently does not.

Movement of medicines between member states for personal use has rules, and they are published rather than a matter of custom.

That is the practical version. The rigorous version is longer and says the same thing.

Prescription status is harmonised at the level of the authorisation and the practical route to a prescription is not.

Happy to be corrected if someone holds better data than mine.

Everything in post #5 holds. The case it does not cover is the one I have.

One more thing on Cross-border purchase rules within that took me far too long to see: the two figures people quote are not measuring the same quantity. Once you notice that, the apparent contradiction disappears.

Taking post #7 at face value and following it one step further.

Pharmacy dispensing practice varies within a member state as well as between them, which is why first-hand accounts diverge honestly.

For what it is worth, the same held on the two occasions I checked.

Building on post #10 rather than restating it.

Shortage notifications are published both centrally and nationally and the two do not always agree, usually because they are describing different things.

A request rather than an answer: could whoever has the primary source for Cross-border purchase rules within post it? I have seen the claim three times this month and each version had lost a qualifier.

Source for the Cross-border purchase rules within figure, since it was asked for. It is in the discussion rather than the abstract, which is why the version circulating is stronger than the paper is.

Reading the surrounding paragraph is worth the two minutes. The authors are more careful than their summarisers.

Anyone quoting an eligibility threshold should cite the national document, because thresholds differ between states and have changed within them.

I would want the raw data before agreeing with my own summary of it.

Practical note on Cross-border purchase rules within: write down what you expect before you look. The number of times I have found what I went looking for is higher than chance would allow.

Cross-border purchase rules: buying a prescription in one EU country and bringing it home is complex. The substance is legal but crossing borders with it requires understanding both countries' import rules.

Take it as a starting point and not as a specification.

The arithmetic in post #14 is right; the assumption feeding it is the part to check.

Movement of medicines between member states for personal use has rules, and they are published rather than a matter of custom.
