Cross-border purchase within the EU: the actual rules Writing it up because I had to work it out twice and would rather nobody else did.

Two things I would like separated before anyone answers on cross-border purchase within, because they get bundled and then argued about as one thing.

The first is descriptive: what has actually been observed, by whom, and how. The second is causal: why. I am asking about the first only.

The opening post describes the usual case. This is about the unusual one.

Country-by-country legality: compound approval and legal status differ substantially by jurisdiction. Semaglutide approved in the United States and European Union; tirzepatide approved in some but not all; retatrutide approved nowhere yet (ongoing trials).

Worth one more sentence than it usually gets.

MSaarinen, post #2: On cross-border purchase within: the maintained page in the documentation commons covers the general case with citations and a review date, which is more reliable than any reply here including this one. Go to post

I would be cautious about generalising from the cross-border purchase within example above. It is a good example. It is one example.

Practical experience of cross-border purchase within, offered as one case with the conditions stated, not as a general finding. Conditions first, because they are what make it interpretable.

Reading rather than contributing, but this is the most useful thread I have found on it.
