Post #2 is right about the mechanism and I think understates the practical bit.

The most defensible general position in this subcategory: identify the plausible mechanism, check whether it has been studied, and where it has not, say that rather than filling the gap.

Worth reading the earlier posts in this thread before acting on mine.

i.aranda_es, post #4: The opening post and I disagree about the size of the effect, not about the direction. Delayed gastric emptying is the mechanism behind most of the plausible interactions in this class: anything whose absorption depends on how quickly the stomach empties can behave differently. The reasoning is more useful than the number, which is why… Go to post

Oral contraceptive absorption has been studied specifically for some compounds in this class and the findings are compound-specific. Generalising from one to another is not supported.

The literature is thinner on this than the confidence in the thread implies.

Narrowing post #55, because the general version has more than one answer.

Noting that I have skin in this question and have tried to discount for it.

Post #60 is the version of this I will quote in future. One addition.

Filing a mild objection to the consensus on delayed gastric emptying and oral. Mild because I might be wrong; an objection because nobody has addressed the case that does not fit.

I read the earlier replies on delayed gastric emptying and oral twice before writing this, because I had assumed the opposite and wanted to be sure I was disagreeing with what was said rather than what I expected.

Post #87 and I disagree about the size of the effect, not about the direction.

Vitamins: most vitamins have no significant interaction. Fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) might be affected by the slowing of fat absorption during weight loss, but that is a nutritional consequence rather than an interaction.

Worth one more sentence than it usually gets.

Confirming post #95 from a second method, which matters more than confirming it from a second person.

I keep a log for delayed gastric emptying and oral specifically because my memory of it turned out to be systematically wrong in one direction. Six weeks of notes cost nothing and settled it.

v.baptista, post #29: Post #27 is the version of this I will quote in future. One addition. Food interactions: most interactions are absorption interactions. Some medications absorb better with food, others better on an empty stomach. With an incretin agonist that already slows gastric emptying, food effects interact with the drug effect as well. Worth… Go to post

Delayed gastric emptying and oral: I would want to see the raw numbers rather than the summary before agreeing. Summaries lose exactly the information that would settle this.
