Nothing to add, except that this is the answer I would give if asked.

Answering the question post #9 raises rather than the one it answers.

Reduced appetite makes fuelling a session harder, and that is a practical problem with practical solutions rather than a reason to stop.

Joint comfort frequently improves with weight reduction, and members here report being able to train in ways they previously could not.

The general case is well covered; this is the awkward specific one.

That reframing is the whole thing. The facts I already had.

Programming while losing weight quickly: realistic expectations are crucial. Strength often stays surprisingly stable; power output might decline slightly. Expecting gains during an energy deficit sets yourself up for disappointment.

I have written this out at length because the short version keeps being misread.

to.varga, post #13: If you are new and reading this thread for the answer to realistic expectations for strength: the answer is conditional, the conditions are in the third reply, and the rest of the thread is worth skipping. Go to post

This is the answer, and the reason it is the answer is the more useful part.

Adding the measurement that post #56 says would settle it.

Coming back to post #60, because the follow-up matters more than the original answer.

Cardiovascular work has its own benefits and is not a substitute for a resistance stimulus for this particular purpose.

Seconded. It reads as careful rather than confident, which is the right register.
