Turnaround times and what they mean for a decision Writing it up because I had to work it out twice and would rather nobody else did.

A question about turnaround times that I think has a definite answer, unlike most of what I ask here.

I have the reasoning below and I am fairly confident about the direction. I am not confident about the size, and the size is what the decision turns on.

Confirming the opening post from a second method, which matters more than confirming it from a second person.

Repeat determination on the same product line months apart is the measurement that speaks to consistency, and consistency is what most buyers actually want.

The literature is thinner on this than the confidence in the thread implies.

On turnaround times, the part that usually goes wrong is that the question is asked as though it has one answer. It has a range, and the width of the range is the interesting bit.

If you can post the two or three numbers you are working from, several people here will check the arithmetic rather than argue about the conclusion.

Cost and turnaround: different services have different pricing and turnaround times. Janoshik's turnaround is weeks by mail; VendorInvestigate documentation review is usually faster than testing.

Coming back to the opening post, because the follow-up matters more than the original answer.

I think the turnaround times question is answerable and has not been answered, which is a more optimistic position than most of this thread.
