A revision dispute resolved on the topic rather than in the history
The opening post describes the usual case. This is about the unusual one.
Support the scoping edit. A number in a maintained document gets quoted without its context roughly forever, so the context has to be inside the sentence rather than in the paragraph above it.
Post #5 is right about the mechanism and I think understates the practical bit.
Proposing an edit rather than making one, because it changes a number. The figure in the third paragraph is right for the licensed formulation and is being read as general. I would add four words scoping it.
Happy to be the one who is wrong here if it settles the question.
Picking up post #11: that is the part I would want checked first.
Careful with the language on revision dispute resolved. "Not detected" and "not present" are different findings and the first is a statement about the method.
