Coming back to the opening post, because the follow-up matters more than the original answer.

Supply and shortage resilience: both UK and Ireland sourced primarily from European suppliers until recent disruptions. Domestic availability and pricing changed.

The number people quote for pharmacy supply is a central estimate presented without its interval, and the interval is wide enough that the estimate is nearly uninformative on its own.

I would keep pharmacy supply and the decision it usually gets used for separate in this thread. They are related and they are not the same question, and merging them is why the last one went badly.

h.espinoza, post #18: The arithmetic in post #15 is right; the assumption feeding it is the part to check. What I would check first on pharmacy supply is whether the thing being measured moved or whether the way of measuring it moved. Those look identical in a graph. Go to post

An honest declaration on pharmacy supply: I have a prior here and it is strong enough that you should weight what I say downward. Stating it rather than hiding it.

Reframing pharmacy supply slightly, because I think the disagreement is about the question rather than the answer. If the question is "does it happen", yes. If it is "how often", nobody here knows.

Agreed on pharmacy supply, with one qualification that I think matters. The reasoning holds for the case as described. Change the starting assumption and it does not, and the starting assumption is the part nobody states.

Private prescribing is legal and widespread, including through remote consultation. Pharmacies must satisfy themselves that a prescription is clinically appropriate. Expect to be asked for measurements and history.

Written quickly, so the reasoning may be tighter than the wording.

A request rather than an answer: could whoever has the primary source for pharmacy supply post it? I have seen the claim three times this month and each version had lost a qualifier.

s.lindqvist, post #90: The most useful reply I ever got about pharmacy supply was a request to state my units. It sounds like pedantry and it has saved me twice. Go to post

I will take the caveat as seriously as the claim, which is the point of putting it there.
