Post #19 is right about the mechanism and I think understates the practical bit.

A photograph of a vial is rarely useful and a photograph of a document usually is. Redact the identifiers before you post either.

Reading it again, the caveat matters more than the finding.

IRenaudin, post #8: Post #4 put the caveat in the right place and I want to underline it. Disagreeing with an answer you got: cite what you disagree with, say what contradicts it, and ask which one holds. Do not open with "I think you are wrong". Lead with the evidence. Go to post

If your question has a deadline — a parcel in transit, a delivery you have to accept or refuse — say so. People answer differently when there is a clock on it.

The strength of my opinion here exceeds the strength of my evidence.

Asking a follow-up: new topic or reply in the old one? If the answer depends on the previous post, reply. If it is a question that makes sense without the previous post, new topic. The second gets faster answers.

Happy to be the one who is wrong here if it settles the question.

A question about somebody else's post should be a reply to that post, not a new topic. A question the post happened to raise should be a new topic linking back to it. The difference is whether the answer is useful without the original.

That has held every time I have looked, which is not the same as always.

Number your questions if there is more than one. It sounds fussy. It means the answer can be numbered back, and you find out which one nobody addressed.

I would put the burden of proof on the interesting explanation, not the dull one.
