A definition problem is doing most of the work in this peptide discussion. Once the term is pinned down I suspect the disagreement mostly goes away and what is left is small.

The arithmetic on peptide is the easy part and it is where the errors are, which is an uncomfortable combination. Show your working and someone will catch it.

A solution can lose a significant fraction of its active content to degradation or adsorption while remaining perfectly clear. Scoping that to what I have actually seen rather than what I have read. Adding the measurement that post #49 says would settle it.

The thing about peptide that took me longest to accept is that a plausible mechanism is not evidence of an effect. It is a reason to look, not a result.

Adsorption to container surfaces removes peptide from solution without changing how the solution looks. In dilute preparations that loss can be a meaningful proportion, and it is invisible.

Two sources, same conclusion, and I could not rule out that one copied the other.

A request rather than an answer: could whoever has the primary source for peptide post it? I have seen the claim three times this month and each version had lost a qualifier.
