Where I part company with post #60, and it is a narrow parting.
Vial integrity: once a vial is entered with a needle repeatedly, the rubber closure degrades and the integrity fails. Using the same vial repeatedly over weeks or months carries increasing risk of contamination. Single-use vials entered once are lowest risk.
Light protection is easy and cheap. The original carton exists for a reason and a vial stored in it is protected without anybody having to think about it again.
I have left out the parts I could not verify.
I had written a reply contradicting post #64 and deleted it. Here is what survived.
Reconstituted material carried in a bag for a day is a temperature excursion even in a cool climate. Where that matters is cumulative exposure over weeks rather than a single afternoon.
Agreed on all of that, and I have nothing to add to it.
The claim about reconstituted upthread is stronger than its source supports. I have read the source. The source says "associated with" and the post says "causes".
Temperature excursions: if a vial sat at room temperature for a time, the question is whether the excursion was long enough to cause damage. Hours at room temperature is usually low risk. Days to weeks raises the risk. If you are unsure, contacting the supplier is more informative than guessing.
Published stability data applies specifically to the formulation studied, under the specific conditions stated. It does not automatically transfer to something reconstituted at home in a different concentration with a different diluent. That caveat is not small.
The answer changed when I changed how I was measuring, which was informative.
The failure mode on reconstituted is boring rather than dramatic. It is almost always the step everyone assumes was done correctly because it is too simple to get wrong.
Dating prepared solutions: write the date reconstitution on the vial in permanent marker. If you later need to know whether it has been sitting for weeks or days, the date tells you. Guessing on this is where errors accumulate.
A single observation, in a thread that deserves better than single observations.

Freezing a reconstituted peptide solution is not automatically protective. Freeze-thaw cycling is one of the harsher things you can do to a protein in solution, and a single freeze is different from repeated ones.

Beyond-use dating: the date after which a prepared solution should not be used. It is an estimate based on how fast the solution degrades under stated storage, not on whether the solution suddenly becomes unusable on a calendar date. The date is a boundary; crossing it is a risk factor not a certainty of damage.
It is one reading of the data and not the only reasonable one.
This is the sort of exchange that makes the archive worth searching.
