Posting this under the heading it deserves: Publication patterns in the BPC-157 literature, examined Everything below is what sits behind that.

Putting the numbers in the first post, because a question about a compound without them turns into a question about somebody's impression of it.

BPC-157, monoisotopic mass near 4113.6 Da, 12 weeks of my own notes, and 9 lots from 3 suppliers with a purity figure on each. That is the whole basis of what follows.

What I want checked is the reasoning I have built on top of it, not the figures themselves.

Filing a mild objection to the consensus on publication patterns. Mild because I might be wrong; an objection because nobody has addressed the case that does not fit.

Post #2 put the caveat in the right place and I want to underline it.

Publication patterns in the BPC-157 literature: a large proportion of the evidence comes from one research group. That is not necessarily wrong — one group can do excellent work — but it is worth noting when evaluating the breadth of support for a claim.

Two sources, same conclusion, and I could not rule out that one copied the other.

BPC-157: the preclinical literature is extensive, mostly from a small number of research groups, and reports effects across a wide range of injury models. The breadth of reported effects is itself worth noting — a compound that improves outcomes in tendon, muscle, gut, nerve and bone through a single mechanism would be remarkable, and remarkable claims deserve proportionate scrutiny.

I would be cautious about generalising from the publication patterns example above. It is a good example. It is one example.

The reason publication patterns is hard to answer is that the obvious measurement and the relevant quantity are not the same thing, and substituting one for the other is silent.

I read post #6 twice before replying, because I had assumed the opposite.

BPC-157's published evidence is overwhelmingly preclinical and mostly rodent. That is not a dismissal — it is the state of the literature, and any discussion that starts elsewhere is starting from something that is not there.

I have said this before in a thread nobody could find, so it is worth repeating.

On post #9 — agreed on the reasoning, with one qualification.

Analytical identity of BPC-157: a 15-residue peptide with an unambiguous mass (≈1419.5 Da). Identity confirmation by LC-MS is trivially easy, which means there is no excuse for an unverified identity on this compound.

Happy to expand any of that if it is the useful part.

Picking up post #9: that is the part I would want checked first.

TB-500 is usually the 7-residue actin-binding fragment of thymosin beta-4, not the full 43-residue protein. The two are routinely conflated in supplier documentation and in the literature. Evidence about the full protein does not automatically apply to the fragment.

Worth checking against a second source before it gets quoted onward.

A definition problem is doing most of the work in this publication patterns discussion. Once the term is pinned down I suspect the disagreement mostly goes away and what is left is small.

Post #14 describes the usual case. This is about the unusual one.

Publication patterns: I would want to see the raw numbers rather than the summary before agreeing. Summaries lose exactly the information that would settle this.

Confirming post #17 from a second method, which matters more than confirming it from a second person.

Nothing in this subcategory is medical advice and several members here are describing experiments on themselves. Both of those things should be stated plainly rather than implied.

Scoping that to what I have actually seen rather than what I have read.

Publication patterns has a well-known answer and a correct answer, and the interesting work is establishing that they are the same. Nobody has done that here yet.

This follows post #18 rather than contradicting it.

The pentadecapeptide sequence is short and stable enough to survive conditions that would degrade a larger peptide, which is one of the few things about it that is well characterised.

The absence of adequately powered published randomised human trials is the central fact about BPC-157. This site states that plainly rather than hedging. Mechanistic plausibility does not substitute for it.

I have three months of notes on publication patterns and the honest summary is that the trend is real and the week-to-week numbers are noise. I nearly drew the opposite conclusion from the first fortnight.

The lyophilised cake is worth looking at before adding diluent. A collapsed or shrunken cake is not a purity finding but it does say something about how the vial was made and how it travelled.

The rule of thumb is fine; the edge cases are where it earns its keep.

Stability of BPC-157 in solution: what has been measured in published work covers specific formulations under specific conditions. Extrapolating to a reconstituted preparation in a different diluent at a different concentration is an extrapolation, acknowledged as one.

That is the version I would defend. It is not the version I started with.

The claim about publication patterns upthread is stronger than its source supports. I have read the source. The source says "associated with" and the post says "causes".

Dose-response is unstudied in humans for essentially everything in this family, which means the confident numbers in circulation came from somewhere other than a trial.

This is the version I would want a new member to read first.
