Naming conventions for research peptides cause confusion because suppliers do not follow a standard. The same compound gets different names from different suppliers. If you are researching something, confirming the sequence or mass is more reliable than confirming the name.

I would rather be precise about what I do not know than vague about what I do.

Melanocortin agonists: mechanism involves the melanocortin-4 receptor pathway that regulates appetite. The documented adverse profile includes blood pressure elevation and erections of sustained duration, the second of which is specific enough that it is the first thing worth mentioning.

Small correction to my own earlier position on Research-use-only status. I had the units the wrong way round, which changes the conclusion by an order of magnitude and therefore changes it entirely.

Worth separating Research-use-only status as a question about the compound from Research-use-only status as a question about the documentation. They get answered by different people and only one of them is answerable here.

Research-use-only status is a legal classification, not a safety classification. It means the compound is sold for laboratory use and not for human consumption or treatment. The label does not tell you whether the molecule is safe, efficacious, or what its effects are.

Adding the boring version of Research-use-only status, because the interesting version keeps getting posted and the boring one is usually right.

Check the ordinary explanations, in order, and stop when one of them accounts for what you are seeing. Most of the time the second one does.

Peptides with cyclic or disulphide-constrained structures behave differently on a column and differently in solution from linear ones. A purity result should say which the material is.

Worth checking against a second source before it gets quoted onward.

What I can speak to on Research-use-only status is narrow, so I will keep it narrow rather than generalising from it. Beyond that boundary I do not know.

Where I part company with post #75, and it is a narrow parting.

Counterpoint on Research-use-only status, offered without confidence: the same observation is consistent with a much duller explanation, and nobody has ruled the dull one out.

On post #78 — agreed on the reasoning, with one qualification.

Several compounds discussed here have no published human pharmacokinetics at all. That means half-life claims in circulation were derived from an animal model or from nothing.

I am confident about the direction and much less about the magnitude.

I think the Research-use-only status question is answerable and has not been answered, which is a more optimistic position than most of this thread.

Colour in a lyophilised cake is worth noting for the less common compounds specifically, because some of them are genuinely not white and a member expecting white will report a problem that is not one.

The interesting part of this is the exception, and I do not understand the exception.
