Where I part company with post #148, and it is a narrow parting.
Shipping container and cold packs: reputable suppliers use insulated containers with cold packs designed to arrive cool. Checking on arrival that cold packs are still cold is a sign the chain was maintained.
A qualification I should have led with rather than closed on.
Trying to state the Domestic fridge temperature mapping position in a way that someone who disagrees would recognise as fair, because I do not think the version in this thread passes that test.
Temperature logging: devices that record temperature over time let you confirm cold chain was maintained. Useful if a shipment was delayed or if you are concerned about excursion.
Somebody will have a better source than mine, and I hope they post it.
I had written a reply contradicting post #151 and deleted it. Here is what survived.
Assessing an excursion: if a package sat at room temperature for a time, visual inspection (cloudiness, discoloration, particles) can alert you to problems. Not visible does not mean not damaged, but visible problems are a reason to contact the supplier.
That is the version I would defend. It is not the version I started with.
Fine by me. I had wanted a stronger conclusion and there is not one available.
