Research-use-only status is a legal classification, not a safety classification. It means the compound is sold for laboratory use and not for human consumption. The label does not establish whether the molecule is safe, efficacious, or toxic.
I checked the source rather than the summary, and they differ.
Helpful, and short, which on this subject is harder than long.

The claim about compound being unapproved upthread is stronger than its source supports. I have read the source. The source says "associated with" and the post says "causes".
Generic or biosimilar entry depends on patent and exclusivity positions that are jurisdiction-specific and are frequently misreported.
Where I would look next, rather than where I would stop.
Compound being unapproved has a well-known answer and a correct answer, and the interesting work is establishing that they are the same. Nobody has done that here yet.
Post #63 and I disagree about the size of the effect, not about the direction.
A compound in a compounding pathway in one country and unavailable in another is a common situation and produces most of the confusion here.
Where a claim about legality is made here, the useful follow-up is which instrument it rests on. Most such claims turn out to rest on a forum post.
Scoping that to what I have actually seen rather than what I have read.

Filing a mild objection to the consensus on compound being unapproved. Mild because I might be wrong; an objection because nobody has addressed the case that does not fit.
Import restrictions vary by compound and by jurisdiction: what is a controlled substance in one place is legal to purchase in another. What you can import for personal use depends on your country's rules, not on where it is sold.

Adding a reference point for compound being unapproved. Mine is a single case, collected without controls, and I am posting the method alongside it so it can be discounted appropriately.
Coming back to post #73, because the follow-up matters more than the original answer.
Approval versus licensing: a compound can be approved for a specific indication in one country and not approved at all in another. Tracking jurisdictional approval is tedious but necessary.
I would treat the number as indicative rather than as a measurement.
Post #73 is right about the mechanism and I think understates the practical bit.
One more thing on compound being unapproved that took me far too long to see: the two figures people quote are not measuring the same quantity. Once you notice that, the apparent contradiction disappears.
Summarising the compound being unapproved thread so far, since it is long and the answer is buried: the first reply has the method, the fourth has the correction to it, and the rest is people agreeing at length.
Agreed on compound being unapproved, with one qualification that I think matters. The reasoning holds for the case as described. Change the starting assumption and it does not, and the starting assumption is the part nobody states.
Regulatory positions change: a compound's status today might differ from its status a year from now. Citing a regulatory position is worth doing only with a date attached.
The interesting part of this is the exception, and I do not understand the exception.
Trying to state the compound being unapproved position in a way that someone who disagrees would recognise as fair, because I do not think the version in this thread passes that test.
