e.roos, post #108: Post #106 describes the usual case. This is about the unusual one. A seven-day rolling mean of daily readings has a much smaller standard error and makes most apparent plateaus and sudden drops disappear. Go to post

State the method before the numbers. Same scale, same time of day, same conditions — without that a series is a collection of readings rather than a measurement.

It is one reading of the data and not the only reasonable one.

The best progress reports here read as records rather than as arguments, and that difference is visible within a sentence.

I have kept the units in throughout, for the obvious reason.

Adding the measurement that post #123 says would settle it.

The reason seven-day rolling keeps being re-asked is that the answer is conditional and people quote it without the condition. It is not that the answer is unknown.

Non-scale victories: muscle gain or maintenance, clothing fit, energy level, and capability (like climbing stairs without breathlessness) are measurements that scale-based weight misses.
